Mi Pequeño Chinantla (inside 4011 Deli Grocery)

MEXICO 🇲🇽

[UPDATE 19 SEPTEMBER 2013: There is no longer a tamales stand outside, as the health department has forced them to contain the entire operation indoors. Name has changed from Evelyn Mini Mart to 4011 Deli Grocery, but remains in the hands of the same owners.]

This used to be one of the best spots to hit up for tamales in Sunset Park, the stand outside did a brisk business before being shut down by the forces that be. Now everything is inside, and the tamales as well as a big portion of the menu are only available on weekends. They are still worth coming for, and Friday early evenings are fun because you get to see the ladies preparing them and laughing together.

On a previous visit, it was noticed that about ten customers all had quesadillas, each as big as anyone's head. This seems to be the specialty of the house, and the menu reflects it, with various options. Everything is in the $8-9 range, and is definitely a meal.
