The Danish Athletic Club

DENMARK 🇩🇰

DENMARK 🇩🇰 Dispatch from Sunset Park, Brooklyn: The decorative theme could be described as a viking ship. Often the place is empty, making you feel a bit like Jack Nicholson from The Shining when they have ballroom music playing. But the remnants of Brooklyn's Scandinavian heritage are all part of the charm of the Danish Athletic Club. There are a lot of flags around, but not much language unfortunately. Many generations removed from their immigrant ancestors, Brooklyn-accented family members now take care of the place which is also used by the Norwegian community (and hosts quite a few quinceaneras these days to pay the bills). Dishes cater to US American palates rather than Scandinavian if we're honest, the people that do make it here are interested in hanging on to their heritage but much removed from the modern Scandinavian that is so popular these days. ° Danish Athletic Club, 735 65th Street, Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Instagram exclusive post, added to full map on website. ° (1) Danish pork roast with gravy, plums, and red cabbage (2) Soup of the day (3) Carlsbergs (4) Viking ship theme (5) Tradition and heritage (6) 65th Street facade. ° ° #EattheWorldNYC #eattheworld #worldfood #worldfoods #instayum #instafood #instaeat #foodlovers #foodlover #forkyeah #nyc #nyceats #nycfood #nycdining #newforkcity #eatingnyc #eatingnewyork #brooklyn #brooklyneats #brooklynfood #sunsetpark #sunsetparkeats #sunsetparkbrooklyn #denmark #danish #danishfood #danishcuisine #dansk #danskmad #danishathleticclub
